The Dogo Argentino is an extremely powerful and intelligent breed of dog.
They are slow to mature and often act like puppies until 2+ years of age. The untrained adolescent dogo (1.5 - 3yrs)
is an enormous liability, capable of great harm. Dogo Argentinos need their minds and bodies exercised on
a daily basis. Dogos are an independent, dominant, thinking breed of dog who were bred to think and act on their
own. They need a dominant, confident, loving and trustworthy leader who has time and know-how to properly exercise and
work them. Once a dogo loses respect for someone, it is almost impossible to gain it back. This powerful breed of dog
requires far more responsibility in raising and caring for them than most other breeds of dogs.
I do NOT recommend that a Dogo share a home with same-sex dogs in the herding
or terrier group.
